During Early Childhood Week, Barranquilla boys and girls “Feel Big”

With a program full of plans and activities that promote recreation, reading, discovery and good health habits, as well as loving parenting and violence prevention, boys and girls will take over Barranquilla during Early Childhood Week 2022, which will be held from October 24 to 28.

The launch took place this Wednesday with the participation of small beneficiaries of the program who showed the Mayor Jaime Pumarejo Hines and the attendees the knowledge acquired in the pedagogical spaces in which they participate daily in the different child development centers.

“We recognize the importance of early childhood in Barranquilla and Colombia, the enormous efforts of the city, where the majority of children in the country do not have the privilege of having CDI with the characteristics that exist in Barranquilla and in other cities. who make these efforts. That’s why we need more accompaniment and make it a fundamental right,” Pumarejo said.

The President pointed out that this work is done jointly between the District, ICBF, parents, neighborhood groups and the private company that accompanies through its foundations.

“We recently received an award for accompanying and supporting early childhood, an important distinction that we received in Bogotá and today we give it to our employees and the people who make this miracle possible, as well as to our children for whom we work, reminding us that We do everything for them,” assured Pumarejo Hines.

“Barranquilla Siente en Grande” is this year’s motto with the aim of raising awareness among citizens in general about the importance of good emotional management in children so that they grow up with the support and understanding of their loved ones.

Furthermore, it seeks to position the importance of holistic early childhood development and well-being through various social mobilization tools focused on building a child-friendly city that recognizes children as subjects of rights.

For the Secretary of Social Management, Santiago Vazquez, the Early Childhood Week seeks to be lived and felt by all the residents of Barranquilla as the most important thing in the formation of children. “We want everyone to know this great dynamic that the project has in the city. We have a series of projects and programs that do not stop in the city and this week we want all citizens to get involved”.

For her part, the director of the early childhood program, Patricia Vargas, indicated that the goal is “for all of Barranquilla to feel great that together we continue to guarantee the rights of children and that we continue to share spaces without violence . This year the central theme is the management of emotions from the first years of life to prevent bullying, violence, depression and everything that can affect the emotional health of our children”.

During the week, there will be educational spaces for teachers, parents and users of Child Development Centers (CDIs), as well as entertainment and recreational activities in different areas of the city to influence parents, guardians and the community at large about the value of emotional education. level in early childhood to prepare children to develop lifelong skills and abilities.

In addition, spaces will be opened for emotional education of both children and adults so that they know how to validate their emotions, helping them to identify and name what they feel, to love and accept themselves, to respect others and suggest problem-solving strategies.

Parks, shopping malls, restaurants, private gardens, schools, zoo, planetarium, customs and national police, among others, will join this strategy for the benefit of the children of Barranquilla.
