Chubut: 10 thousand boys and girls are vaccinated against measles, rubella, mumps and polio

The Chubut government, through the provincial Ministry of Health led by Miriam Monasterolo, announced this Tuesday that a total of 10,000 boys and girls between the ages of 13 months and 4 years inclusive have already received the additional, free and mandatory dose of the Triple Viral Vaccine and polio vaccine.

These actions are taking place as part of the “National Measles, Rubella, Mumps and Polio Vaccination Campaign” which started last Saturday, October 1st and will continue until November 13th.

The data were provided by the Provincial Leader of the Immunization Program of the Health Portfolio of Chubut, Daniela Carreras, who this morning gave a press conference on the campaign in Trelew, at the facilities of the Center for Primary Health Care (CAPS) “Dr. Ramón Carrillo”, of the Amaya district , along with local health recommendations.

Third week of the campaign

In a dialogue with the press, the provincial representative of the immunization program, Daniela Carreras, indicated that “the vaccination campaign against measles, rubella, mumps and polio continues at a good pace and we estimate that today we will reach 10,000 boys and girls vaccinated throughout Chubut, which represents 34% of our target population of 28,000 boys and girls’.

In addition, he pointed out that “we are in the third week of the campaign and we still have three more weeks to complete the six planned for which we have planned new strategies to vaccinate the territory, aimed at being able to meet the originally proposed goals.”

In this sense, “it is very important to remind the community in the province that the campaign targets all children between the ages of 13 months and 4 years inclusive, regardless of whether they have received these vaccines in the past or not, so We call on all families in the province to go to the nearest health centers or to the Seros vaccination centers, which are also available,” Carreras said.

For his part, the coordinator of MBAL “Dr. Ramon Carrillo”, from the Amaya neighborhood in Trelew, Patricia Bauer, emphasized that “our CAPS is one of the largest in the city and is responsible for a large area of ​​influence for which we have a total of 500 boys and girls to be vaccinated, of which 322 have already received their respective doses”.

“This is made possible by various tools we implement, such as community breakfasts, reading spots with grandmothers who come to CAPS to read stories to children, and actions on the ground,” Bauer said, adding that until now “we average between 25 and 30 vaccinated boys and girls per day”.

He also recalled that “we still have three weeks to implement new vaccination strategies, especially in terms of field work in our neighborhood.”

Positive reception from the community

Regarding these strategies, one of the CAPS nurses, Nieves Ruiz, indicated that “here we vaccinate from Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6 pm and on Saturdays from 8 am to 12 pm, in addition to that during this week we started going out to vaccinate in the field both in the morning and in the afternoon, with preliminary scooping by the community center workers”.

“The community’s reception has been mostly positive, thanks precisely to the work of these community workers who are responsible for informing families, schools and kindergartens on which days we will vaccinate and what the vaccination means,” explained Ruiz.
