The municipality will hold a new edition of the historic marathon “I ran through Cordoba”
The municipality of Córdoba will hold a new edition of the historic marathon “I toured Cordoba” which gathered more than 15 thousand participants in the capital last year.
A week before the start of registration, there are already 4,933 registered participants from different parts of the country.
The race will take place on Sunday, October 30, starting at 7:30am and will start and finish at the Kempes Sports Center in front of the Faculty of Physical Education, where the Expo Marathon will be organised.
The circuits exhibited by the organization include the Kempes Stadium area and Kempes Park, Costanera Norte and Sur, as well as sectors of the Nueva Córdoba, Centro and Urca neighborhoods, thus passing through numerous public spaces restored by the Metropolitan Municipality.
It will have 42K, 21K and 10K race categories as well as a 5K participation test. Winners will receive cash prizes and a participation medal, a product of the circular economy.
Registration for participants is free, with a limited number of places, through maraton42k.cordoba.gob.ar, until October 27 inclusive.
On the website of the marathon it is possible to see the conditions of participation. At the end of the registration process, athletes receive an email with the attached documents, which must be presented, without exception, during kit collection on October 28 and 29.
These are an affidavit of health and a certificate of physical fitness for street racing, signed by a registered medical professional, original and copy.
The competitions will be held according to the current regulations of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and the International Association of Marathons (AIMS). The 42K and 21K circuits were measured and certified according to IAAF / AIMS rules.
For Miguel Siciliano “The marathon is another example of all the work we are doing from the management to continue positioning the capital in the country and the region, installing the Córdoba Ciudad brand”.
“In the first edition, nearly 10,000 participants were runners who came to the city from the interior of the province, from the rest of Argentina and from abroad. Which means that they spent at least one night in the capital, used our hotels, restaurants, taxis and accommodation, bought in our companies, in short, they left what the tourism industry leaves in the cities: more employment”, added the Secretary of the Government and general office management.
Gender “X” non-binary
In addition, within the intensive gender, diversity and inclusion policy implemented by the municipality, and in accordance with the current legal framework in the country, the City Marathon will offer athletes the three gender options for the first time, in all its schemes and categories ( conventional and adapted).
In this way, the Municipality of Córdoba adapts the regulations in accordance with the validity of Law 26,743 and National Decree 476/2021 and includes the option of registration “x” (non-binary) for people who do not identify as female or male. and have made the specified change to the national identity document.
The rewards of the marathon
As in the previous edition, there will be cash prizes for the winners, cups and a participation medal for those who completed the routes, a product of the circular economy, made entirely of plastic caps that reached the Green Centers.
