Weaving a story of love and life

“This is the desire of the monk who surrenders to God. This is the goal of those of us who dedicate ourselves to God in monasteries. This is exactly the attitude and desire of Brother Josep Antoni Diaz, who on September 3, on the feast of Saint Gregory the Great, made a temporary profession in Montserrat”

“The monk, like the newly professed Josep Antoni Diaz, is the one who, with a heart and mind open to all humanity, tries to turn his life and prayer into service and service for the benefit of our world”

“Illuminated by the new light of Easter, the monk, like Josep Antoni Diaz, must learn to be humble, hospitable. He must know how to discover in creation, in every event and in every person, the great love of God

“The temporary profession of Josep Antoni Diaz shows our world that there is a new way of life, a new way of doing and being, which is not based on the power or dominance of others, on consumerism, on mediocrity or on lies

It is the monk’s desire that is given to God. This is the goal of those of us who dedicate ourselves to God in monasteries. This is the attitude of the one who, following Jesus, in the silence of the monastery, wants to turn his own life, intertwined with that of the Master, into a love story. This is exactly that the attitude and desire of Brother Josep Antoni Diazwho last September 3, on the feast of St. Gregory the Great, made a temporary profession at Montserrat.

The monk is the one who, aware of his own weakness and fragility, knows how to trust God, who has called him to enter the path of monastic life, to receive from Christ that joy that fills his heart, since he knows that is loved by God.. And that’s it love and only love is at the beginning of monastic life, as a path, as an adventureas a way out that makes the monk, leaving himself, walk, advance and run in the school of the Lord’s service, alongside the brothers whom God gives him and whom he must know how to welcome, love and serve.

The monk, like the newly professed Josep Antoni Diaz, is one who, with a heart and mind open to all humanity, tries to turn his life and prayer into service and service for the benefit of our world.. Guided by the Holy Spirit, the monk wants to be a witness to brotherhood, a master of communion, a sower of unity, a prophet of compassion, an icon of the Triune love of God, a servant of mercy and a herald of hope. The monk, with his life, which he places entirely in the hands of God, and despite his own smallness, is a man who dreams, because he completely trusts in God, who opens new paths where there was apparently no opportunity to advance.

I had the joy, as master of the novices, to welcome to the monastery in September 2018 the newly professed temporarily, Josep Antonio Diazborn in Valencia, in the city of Elda on November 2, 1983. After primary and secondary education in his hometown Josep Antoni Diaz He studied teaching at the Jaume I University in Castello de la Plana, educational psychology at the University of Alicante and journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. And it was because of his desire to accept the will of God that in 2017 he called on the doors of Montserrat to become a monk.. After some time of recognition with the novice teacher, he entered the monastery in September 2018.

And it is under the action of the Holy Spirit and with the desire to always seek the face of God that the monk strives to be a witness of the Kingdom in silence and prayer, in hospitality and in work, in learning and in lectio, lived and chewed, which nourishes your own vocation.

The monk is the one who learns to make his own every day and to show others the tenderness of God who is the Father. The monk is the one who knows how to look at creation with happy, pure and trusting eyes, like a child, because he knows that our world is covered by God’s love. The monk also learns to live in the school of service to the Lord from the freedom that is always the fruit of mercy. The monk knows that his life, full of the beauty of what is simple, must be a mirror of generosity and devotion.

Josep Antoni Diaz and the Master of Novices

Enlightened by the new light of Easter, the monk, like Josep Antoni Diaz, must learn to be humble like the plants in the forest, small and simple, but at the same time full of fragrance and beauty. A monk must know how to be a man cozy like the shade of a pine forest or like the fresh water generously offered to weary walkers. The monk, befitting Christ, he must know how to discover in creation, in every event and in every person, the immense love of God of comfort and joy, of the God who never tires of loving, of the God who supports us in our weakness and in our sorrow, of the God who opens new horizons and new hopes.

Josep Antoni Díaz’s temporary occupation shows our world that there is a new way of living, a new way of doing and being, which are not based on power or domination of others, on consumerism, mediocrity or lies. That is why this newly professed temporal, who dedicated himself to God as a monk of Montserrat, sensitive to the suffering and joys of the brothers, with his choice of life, helps us to transform our community into a living space, open and Easter, trusting and peaceful, invaded of the joy of the Spirit to weave a story of love and life.
